Art's Benefits Art has been proven to have a positive impact on lives and has even been suggested to be as important to utilize as exercise and healthy diets. In people who are ill and/or suffering, art brings definite symptom improvement. Art can reduce pain, anxiety, nausea, depression, and the amount of pain medicine required for those who are suffering. People who are depressed even have been seen to respond to the arts while they do not respond to anyone or anything else. Research has proven that art assists ill patients in terms of getting well, and speeds up the healing process. Art allows for relaxation, which aids in making treatments more acceptable and easier to go through, and helps caregivers in terms of creating a better, positive environment and the ability in reaching the patient. A lot of the time, people may be suffering from illnesses that cannot be treated or relieved with pain medicine, pills, or procedures. Art is sometimes the only means of treatment and healing they may receive. The arts have been able to calm the dying who may be fearful, agitated, or in delirium, and help in obtaining peace and quiet at the end of life.
